I'm petrified of elevators, especially ones that go up 80+ floors, so I gave my brother my camera and asked him to snap some photos for me when he got up to the top of the Empire State Building. Isn't the view breathtaking?!

Close up of the purple M&Ms in the huge candy department in the NBC store. My mom's favorite candy :)

The Empire State Building at night. There was a really bizarre sky that night... it seemed as if there were black clouds floating above.

I take one of these every time I go into the city, don't I? Oh well, it's one of my favorite places to go, I think it's so lovely!

Friends section of the NBC store. Love this shirt! My brother wants the "How You Doin?" shirt, and I also saw one with the infamous "pivot" sequence. If I was a t-shirt kinda gal, these would have been coming home with me ;-)

My view from our seat at Olive Garden in Times Square. It was so much fun to look out the window while we were eating!

Scrumptious chocolate mousse for dessert! I don't care if it's not real Italian food, a commercialized chain, blah blah blah... in a family where even Chinese takeout is a rare treat, eating at Olive Garden is a huge privilege and a delicious one at that!

Pivot, pivot, pivot.
SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!
LOL! I love that scene. I was thinking about it when I was moving my horribly big and awkward sofa down three flights of stairs. I want that t-shirt!
You are lucky that you can take impromptu trips to NYC like that.
Last time I was in times square I went to Red Lobster. There are no Red Lobsters near me and I love there food. Mostly because I live in MA where there are lots of seafood places so Red Lobster wouldn't survive. It's the one chain that I'll go to when I travel. Otherwise, I'm an indy-restaurant kind of gal.
Thanks for sharing your journey! I love these posts.
I took a picture of that shirt too, I'll upload it to flickr later & send you the link so you can see it :D
Italian food is to NJ what seafood is to MA. People here knock Olive Garden all the time because it isn't authentic enough, and they're right -- the food from the real Italian restaurants here is out of this world! It's just that the atmosphere combined with the food and the rarity of going there makes Olive Garden a special treat to me. The food at the real Italian places might be better, but sometimes I want that stucco surrounding and dim lighting instead of plastic booths and framed, signed photos of all the NJ governors lol! :D
totally breathtaking but i don't have the guts. i'm scared of heights soooo bad..amazing pics!

Love this, and the discussion about seafood chains in Mass. vs Italian chains in NJ. Never thought about that, but very true. I'd love to hear about more regional restaurant dining from your readers.
yes please send me link of shirt picture!
